The Pounce browser extension

What it does
Normally, the last step of a reply happens on X or Reddit: Pounce hands over your finished draft and you post it there. The browser extension moves that step into Pounce, posting through the X or Reddit tab you already have open.
Reply to a Reddit post without the extension and you copy the draft, open the post, paste, and submit. With the extension, you press Reply and you are done. On X, the composer window stops opening at all.
Three things it does, and nothing else:
- Posts your replies, comments, and quotes when you press the button in Pounce
- Shows which Reddit and X accounts you are currently signed in to, so Pounce knows it can post
- Opens or focuses a tab for you when one is missing
It is completely optional. Everything in Pounce works without it, just with a few more steps per reply.

Edge and Opera will ask you to allow extensions from another store the first time. That is normal, and it is a one-time prompt.
Nothing to install on mobile
Phone and tablet browsers cannot run this kind of extension, so replies there go through the X and Reddit apps instead. Pounce works fine that way, and on Android it uses a copy-and-paste flow so your reply always lands as a real reply.Installing it
It is free, and takes about ten seconds:
- Open pounce.so/install-extension, which sends you to the right store for the browser you are in
- Add the extension, then pin it so its status icon stays visible in your toolbar
- Refresh any reddit.com or x.com tabs you already had open
That last step matters. Tabs loaded before the install need one reload before the extension can reach them.
Keeping a tab open
The extension posts through your own logged-in session, which means it needs a tab for the network you are replying on: reddit.com for Reddit replies, x.com for X replies. Leave one open in a pinned tab and you will never think about it again.
Click the Pounce icon in your browser toolbar to see the current state:
- Green means you are connected and ready. Your username is shown next to it.
- Amber means no tab is open for that network. Use the Open button in the popup to get one.
- Red means the tab is there, but you are not signed in to that account in this browser.
If you keep more than one Reddit or X account, that username is also how you check which one a reply would go out as.
What it can and cannot do
The extension only touches Reddit, X, and Pounce, and only when you ask it to. It reads your username on each site so it can show which account it would post as, and it checks that you are signed in to Pounce. It does not watch your browsing and it collects nothing about you.
It also does not change the rule that Pounce never posts without you. Pressing Reply is still the action that publishes, and nothing goes out while you are away.
If something stops working
Most problems are a stale tab. In order:
- Refresh your reddit.com or x.com tab
- Check the icon and confirm the account shown is the one you expect
- Confirm you are still signed in to Pounce in the same browser
Replies can also fail for reasons on the platform’s side, like a rate limit or a subreddit that does not allow your account to comment. Pounce tells you what happened and keeps your draft, so nothing is lost.
