Replying to X posts from Android

Last updated July 26, 2026

Why replying works differently on Android

When you hit Reply in Pounce, we normally hand your draft straight to X’s compose screen with the reply already attached to the right post. One tap, and your reply is live.

This is a limitation of the X app for Android

When the X app for Android opens a compose link from another app, it drops the "reply to" part of the link. This is a bug in X's app, not something Pounce (or any other tool) can fix from the outside.

The composer that opens looks completely normal, but posting from it publishes a standalone post instead of a reply. Nobody in the conversation sees it, and it looks out of context on your profile. The same links work correctly on iPhone and on desktop browsers.

What Pounce does instead

On Android, Pounce switches to a flow that always produces a real reply:

  1. Pounce copies your finished reply to the clipboard
  2. The post opens in the X app
  3. Tap Reply, press and hold the text box, tap Paste, and post

It is one extra tap, but your reply lands exactly where it should: threaded under the post, visible to everyone in the conversation.

One-tap replies are still available

Everything in your Pounce account works the same on every device. If you also use a desktop or laptop computer, or an iPhone or iPad, replying from there stays fully one-tap: the composer opens with your reply already in place.

If X fixes this in a future Android update, we will switch Android back to one-tap replies as well.
